Sukhbir Singh Badal demands special girdawari

SAD chief and Ferozepur MP Sukhbir Singh Badal today demanded special girdawari to assess the damage caused to standing crops of cotton and paddy in Muktsar, Fazilka, Ferozepur and Mansa districts due to rain.

Sukhbir, who visited some waterlogging-hit villages in Lambi and Malout Assembly segments today, said it was shocking that the Chief Minister had not given directions to officers to make arrangements to drain out rainwater from fields and houses.

“The state government did not clean the drains prior to the monsoons. Further, nothing concrete has been done for the welfare of farmers as no compensation is being paid to the cotton farmers affected by the whitefly attack,” said Sukhbir.
